Summerland Action Festival
Summerland’s Action Fest is a 3 day sporting, music and food event. With activities to please any age group, Action Fest celebrates sports and families in a typically Okanagan way.
Friday Evening Festivities – Bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle back to enjoy the entertainment of established and up-and-coming artists at the Memorial Park band shell. Treat yourself to some tasty festival foods, or enjoy a refreshing drink and lively company in the Beverage Gardens. End the evening with the sights and sounds of a dazzling Summerland fireworks display.
Saturday Family Fun – Saturday is children, teens and family day, starting with a delicious pancake breakfast from 8:00am to 10:00am at Memorial Park. Summerland’s trademark parade begins at 10:00am followed by live music and dancing at the band shell. Kids can burn off their energy on the thrilling midway rides, feast on cotton candy and test their skills in fairground games. In the afternoon, head back to the band shell and rock to top Canadian, international, and tribute bands who provide an eclectic range of music well into the night.
Final Day and Fishing Derby – The festivities continue until late afternoon with music, vendors and family fun. Check with the Summerland Visitors’ Centre for details of the children’s fishing derby at the dam at Garnett Valley Lake.
Sports Action – If you love softball then you’ll definitely love the two-day 72 team Slo-Pitch Tournament which takes place in Dale Meadows Park, and at ball diamonds around Summerland.
For those who have always thought about participating in a triathlon, don’t miss The Man of Steel Triathlon which is held on Saturday.
Saturday evening is the Giant’s Head Run, a race for all ages in 22 categories. There are two options: a 5.4 km course through the orchards and back roads of Summerland, or a 10km route around Giant’s Head Mountain.
